Longhouse Tours & Rentals
Longhouse
The NEC's longhouse was built in 1985 with the design concept based on West Coast philosophy that encompasses traditional values. The totem pole was carved by the well-known Northwest Coast Carver, Norman Tait. Community member gathered at the pole raising ceremony, which signifies the house of learning for Indigenous learners in Metro Vancouver.
You’re invited to join us for a Longhouse tour and learn about what NEC has to offer Indigenous learners in Metro Vancouver.
High School Tours
- Schedule a tour 4 weeks in advance
- High school students in grades 9-12
- Groups of 15 must have one chaperone
- Maximum group size is 30 students
Community Organizations
- Schedule a tour 4 weeks in advance
- Maximum group size is 25
Longhouse Rentals
Our facility is available for rent to host your upcoming community event or workshop. Any individual or organization can rent our facility. Please note: alcohol and drugs are not permitted on the property.
Fire Place
Fireside Lounge and Level 1 Classrooms are available for rentals.
Schedules
Rentals can occur between the hours of 8am-10pm, 7 days per week.
School Hours
Rentals that fall within normal school hours (8am-4pm) will be considered on a case-by-case basis so as not to interrupt NEC operations
Food allowed / No kitchen
There are no kitchen facilities available.

Community Partnership Rentals
Every 2nd Tuesday of the month, NEC will allow rentals between 4pm-9pm at a community rate for Indigenous, not for profit organizations.
