General Admission Requirements

NEC aims to provide education to all First Nations in Canada. However, we open our doors to Non-Indigenous Citizens and Permanent Residents. Admission requirements vary by program but, at a minimum, most NEC certificates and diplomas require a successful completion of: 

High School Graduates

  • B.C. secondary school (Grade 12) or equivalent (B.C. Adult Dogwood Graduation Diploma or General Education Diploma).
  • A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 (64%) calculated on English studies 12 or English First People 12 and Math 10.

Mature Applicants

If you are 19+, and did not graduate from high school, you are considered a Mature Applicant and should complete the following assessments at NEC admissions department: 

  • IABE – You may need an English and Math Assessment. Canadian Adult Achievement Test (CAAT)
  • Literacy Assessment for all college-level programs
  • Office Administration and Employment Training – Typing Test (20WPM)
