Family & Community Counselling Certificate

Program Description

The Family and Community Counselling program offers specialized training for delivering personal counselling and social services within the cultural values and beliefs of Indigenous community. Students are encouraged to understand their history, and to integrate traditional knowledge and skills into their practice

The Family & Community Counselling Certificate (FCCC) Program is 11 months of study or a total of 39 credits, which includes a 200-hour practicum placement in the Social Services field.

Explore the issue of power and oppression based on age, race, gender, sexual orientation, race, and culture. You’ll develop the knowledge, values, and skills necessary for an entry-level position focusing on the relationship between client problems and public issues, and the promoting of social justice and human well-being.

Upon completion of this certificate, you can apply to the Family and Community Counseling Diploma Program at NEC.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Family & Community Counselling Certificate, learners will be proficient in the following areas:

FCCC graduates can apply to the Family and Community Counseling Diploma Program at NEC.

  • Community support worker
